KPK Adds PDIP‘s Hasto Kristiyanto as Suspect in Vote Buying Case Linked to Harun Masiku
JAKARTA – The Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) has named Secretary General of PDIP, Hasto Kristiyanto, as a suspect in a vote-buying case involving the replacement of a PDIP legislator. This case is connected to Harun Masiku, a PDIP legislator who remains at large.
The case traced back to the KPK’s sting operation on January 8, 2020, wherein commissioners of the General Elections Commission (KPU), Wahyu Setiawan and Rahmat Tonidaya, were apprehended at Soekarno-Hatta International Airport. Wahyu was alleged to have accepted bribes from Harun Masiku to facilitate his replacement of the late Nazarudin Kiemas, a PDIP legislator.
During the operation, eight individuals were arrested from various locations across Jakarta and Central Java. These include Agustiani Tio Feidelina (ATF), a former Bawaslu member, who was found with SGD 400 million, Saeful, a private individual, and his driver Ilham, lawyer Doni, and two of Wahyu’s family members, Ika Indayani and Wahyu Budiani.
Despite intensive efforts, Harun Masiku remained at large. His last known whereabouts were near the Police Science University, but attempts to capture him were unsuccessful. Subsequently, KPK added Harun to its wanted list, designating him as an active fugitive since January 17, 2020. Harun is being sought for his suspected involvement in the bribery of a public official.
