In a pioneering move towards sustainable mobility, Plovdiv, Bulgaria’s second-largest city, has unveiled its first electric vehicle (EV) charging station. The station, a part of the city’s commitment to the EU Green Deal, was officially inaugurated today by Mayor Ivan Totev.
Located at the Plovdiv Majchina Bus Station, the new charging point will accommodate both regular and fast-charging capacities, catering to various EV models. The station is expected to significantly boost e-mobility in the city, encouraging residents and visitors to embrace cleaner transportation options.
Mayor Totev expressed his excitement about the installation, stating, "This charging station is more than just a piece of infrastructure. It symbolizes Plovdiv’s commitment to reducing our carbon footprint and becoming a greener, healthier city for our citizens."
The project is funded under the Operational Program ‘Innovations and Competitiveness‘ 2014-2020, co-financed by the European Union through the European Regional Development Fund. It aligns with the EU Green Deal’s objective to make Europe the first climate-neutral continent by 2050.
