Title: Tragic Spearfishing Incident: Pastor Dies After Stunning Shark Attack Off Queensland Coast
In a devastating turn of events, Luke Walford, a 40-year-old pastor, lost his life while spearfishing with his family off the coast of Queensland, Australia. The tragic incident occurred near Humpy Island, a famous diving and snorkeling hotspot within the iconic Great Barrier Reef.
Walford was attacked by a shark, sustaining severe injuries to his neck region. Despite immediate medical attention, he succumbed to his injuries around an hour and a half later. This is the second shark attack in the area in less than a month, with a 60-year-old man having been hospitalized after being bitten by a shark in the same vicinity.
A pastor at a local church, Walford was remembered as a beloved figure, especially among the youth of his congregation. "He was truly loved, especially by the youth of our church," wrote the church in a Facebook post expressing their condolences. "Our prayers are with Luke’s family, especially his wife, his mother, and all his relatives."
Tragically, Walford’s death is one of two shark-related fatalities that occurred over the weekend. In a separate incident, a tourist was killed and another injured in a shark attack at the Egyptian resort town of Marsa Alam. The nationalities of the victims have not yet been made public.
