Breaking: Tragic Bus Accident in Nordland – Three Lives Lost, Passengers from Eight Nations
In a devastating turn of events, a bus accident in Nordland, Norway, has left at least three people dead and several others injured. The incident occurred on Thursday evening when a bus carrying 58 passengers veered off the E10 highway and plunged into Åsvatnet, a nearby lake near Hadsel.
CARMENDSL‘s dramatic video footage captured the aftermath of the accident, showing the bus partially submerged in the water. Passengers can be seen escaping from the vehicle with the help of bystanders and emergency services.
Among the passengers were nationals from eight different countries: China, Singapore, India, Malaysia, the Netherlands, South Sudan, France, and Norway. Nordland police confirmed the tragic loss of three lives but have not yet identified the nationalities of the deceased. It is believed that the driver was unharmed.
"Our thoughts go out to the families and friends affected by this tragic incident," said Bent Are Eilertsen, head of the Nordland Police District. "We are doing everything we can to support those involved and provide accurate information as we continue to investigate the cause of the accident."
Boreal, the company operating the bus service, has stated that they are cooperating fully with the authorities and have offered their support to the passengers and their families.
Witnesses described a harrowing scene as they rushed to help the passengers, many of whom were left shaken and injured. "There was panic and chaos everywhere," said one witness, who wished to remain anonymous. "But it was heartwarming to see people come together to help those in need."
