The authorities found lifeless Wednesday on a road in southwestern Colombia the footballer Leidy Asprilla, who was part of the selections sub'17 and sub'20 of the country, and that was missing since last Sunday.
The body of Asprilla, 22, was found in the last hours in a wooded area of the road that goes from the municipality of El Cerrito to Rozo, in the department of Valle del Cauca.
«We regret the death of the player», wrote in his Twitter account the Major Soccer Division of the country (Dimayor), who expressed his condolences to relatives and close friends of the athlete who played with the Orsomarso team.
For his part, the mayor of Palmira, Jairo Ortega Samboní, also regretted that happened with the soccer player: "recently was found dead, according to the police informs me," said the burgomaster.
The authorities investigate the causes of Asprilla's death because he had all his belongings, including the clothing of the equipment with which he played, and the motorcycle in which he was traveling was a few meters from the body.
Leidy's aunt, Amparo Asprilla, explained that her niece left her home in El Cerrito on Sunday to pick up a girlfriend and then go to training but "never came" to where her friend was waiting for her. Initially the family believed that the athlete was kidnapped and advocated for their freedom.
The footballer, who was recovering from a right knee injury, was part of several juvenile processes with the Colombian national team. One of the most memorable goals was the one that scored Brazil in a South American sub'17.
