Three-Vehicle Pileup on A2: BMW Driver Fleeing Another Car Loses Control

At around midnight on Saturday, three vehicles were involved in a chain-reaction crash on the A2 highway, just before the Best-West exit heading towards Eindhoven. The incident began when the driver of a BMW lost control of his vehicle, causing a front-end collision with the guardrail on the opposite side of the road. Theforce of the impact sent the BMW careening back onto the highway, where it struck two other vehicles, sending them spinning into the middle of the road.

The BMW driver told investigators that he believes he was being chased by a black car on the left lane. "I think he was trying to pass me, and that’s when I lost control," he said. Despite the severity of the crash, the driver escaped without injury. His BMW, however, was declared a total loss.

Incredibly, the occupants of the two other vehicles involved also walked away unharmed, though they were visibly shaken. They expressed concern about the chaos that ensued as their vehicles spun out of control in the middle of the busy highway. "It’s astonishing that the alleged perpetrator just drove off after causing this," one of the affected drivers remarked.

The incident led to a 45-minute closure of two lanes on the A2 in the direction of Eindhoven while emergency services worked to clear the wreckage. A tow truck was required to remove the three damaged vehicles from the scene.

The investigation into the cause of the crash is ongoing.
