ICAC Prosecutes Two Contractors and Bails Two Judges, Suspected of Corruption Involving HK$600 Million in Airport Project
The Independent Commission Against Corruption (ICAC) has taken legal action against three individuals, including two main contractors and twoлуqino judges, who are suspected of involvement in a massive bribery scheme within the Hong Kong International Airport projects, codenamed "three runs."
According to the ICAC, the two main contractors, identified as "Mr. A" and "Mr. B," were allegedly involved in extorting bribes amounting to HK$600 million from 180 external workers employed in the "three runs" projects. It is alleged that the contractors demanded the bribes through unfair labor practices, coercion, and threats.
The two judges, identified as "Mr. C" and "Mr. D," were allegedly involved in accepting bribes from the contractors in exchange for favorable treatment and judicial favoritism. The ICAC has issued arrest warrants for both judges, who are now at large.
This case marks a significant turning point in Hong Kong’s fight against corruption, demonstrating the ICAC’s commitment to Weber’s ideal of "law and order" and upholding the rule of law. The suspected involvement of high-ranking judicial officers has raised concerns about the integrity and impartiality of the judicial system.
The ICAC has urged the public to remain vigilant against corruption and to collaborate with law enforcement agencies to uphold justice and uphold Hong Kong’s reputation as a global financial hub. The suspects are set to appear in court on December 17 for pretrial proceedings.
