Head of Kopasgat Replaced, New BNPP Chief Appointed
The Head of the Counterterrorism Special Forces (Kopasgat), Marsda Yudi Bustami, has been replaced by Marsma Deny Muis. Yudi Bustami has been reassigned to the Indonesian Air Force headquarters in preparation for his retirement.
Previously, Deny Muis served as the Deputy Head of Kopasgat. Deny, a 1993 graduate of the Indonesian Air Force Academy, is known for his expertise in anti-terrorism operations. Throughout his career, he has held various leadership positions, including Commander of Bravo Detachment 90 (2004-2006) and Commander of Paskhas Group 464/Nanggala (2006-2008). He also served as the Deputy Assistant for Human Resources and Intelligence at the Special Forces Headquarters, among other roles.
Meanwhile, Lieutenant General TNI Mohammad Syafii has been appointed as the new Head of the National Search and Rescue Agency (BNPB), formerly known as Basarnas. He succeeds Marshal Madya TNI Kusworo, who has been reassigned to the Indonesian Air Force headquarters in preparation for his retirement. Syafii previously served as the Assistant for Operations at the Indonesian Armed Forces headquarters.
Other notable rotations and moves include:
- Lieutenant General TNI Eko Margiyono reassigned from Governor of the National Defence University to Army Chief of Staff.
- Lieutenant General TNI Drs. Nugroho Sulistyo Budi reassigned from Head of the State Cyber and Encryption Agency to Army Chief of Staff.
- Major General TNI Lukmansyah reassigned from Deputy Chief of BNPB’s Disaster Management Division to Special Assistant to the Army Chief of Staff.
- Major General TNI Budi Irawan reassigned from Assistant Deputy for Human Resources to Deputy Chief of BNPB’s Disaster Management Division.
This news comes amidst a series of leadership changes and rotations within the Indonesian military. The reshuffling is expected to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in various roles and divisions.
