Three individuals were rescued from the water near Dún Laoghaire’s east pier this afternoon after a jet ski collision. The incident prompted a rapid response from the Irish Coast Guard, the Dún Laoghaire Inshore lifeboat, and the National Ambulance Service.
Rapid Response to Jet Ski Incident
The Marine Rescue Coordination Centre (MRCC) Dublin received a report from a member of the public at approximately 3:50 pm. The caller stated that a jet ski carrying three people had crashed into the pier, and all individuals were in the water.
Both the Dún Laoghaire Inshore lifeboat and a local Coast Guard unit were dispatched to the scene. Fortunately, the casualties had already been picked up by a rib (rigid inflatable boat) before the lifeboat launched.

Two crew members from the Dún Laoghaire RNLI met the rib at the pontoon of the National Yacht Club to assess the condition of those involved. Two of the casualties required care, and one needed urgent first-aid.
Paramedics from the National Ambulance Service arrived and took over care of the individuals, transporting one person to the hospital for further evaluation.
