In a swift turn of events, the second suspect involved in the armed robbery of a public transport bus in Tonalá municipality has turned himself in to authorities. According to the Jalisco State Attorney’s Office, José Ricardo R. presented himself to the prosecutor’s office on Saturday morning following the widespread circulation of a video showing the incident and mounting public pressure.

The detained suspect joins José Antonio L., also known as Édgar Jonathan L., who was apprehended by state prosecutors and police on Friday morning. The duo targeted a unit of the 153 CTM route in the Jardines del Prado neighborhood in Tonalá on January 2 around 6:00 AM, robbing passengers at gunpoint.

José Ricardo R. faces charges of aggravated robbery, with the use of a firearm, on a public transport unit. Both suspects will soon be brought before a judge to determine their legal status.

The prosecutors’ office has received statements from three passengers and one driver who were victims of the crime. The investigation is ongoing, and more developments are expected in the coming days.
