Blizzard Conditions Challenge Tønsberg and Færder: Buses Suspended, Minor Incidents Reported

Tønsberg and Færder were blanketed with heavy snow and strong winds on Monday, keeping plow drivers busy to keep roads clear. The harsh weather also posed challenges for buses, with Viktoria Buss cutting services in Tønsberg, Færder, Horten, Sandefjord, and Larvik due to severe driving conditions.

Despite the challenging conditions, no major accidents were reported in the South-East police district, according to operations leader Inge Landsrød. "There have been a few incidents, but mainly vehicular breakdowns and minor traffic incidents," he reported to Tønsbergs Blad on Monday evening.

Vehicles getting stuck in deep snow have also caused issues on the roads. "They can’t move further and it causes traffic problems," Landsrød explained. "We’ve had vehicles stuck, and even the plows have had trouble."

Fortunately, no personal injuries were reported on Monday evening.

Watch Out for Slippery Conditions on Tuesday

Tuesday is expected to bring milder temperatures, with rain replacing snow, which could make roads particularly slippery. Meteorologists warn of very slippery road conditions.

Landsrød advises drivers before hitting the road: "Maintain a safe distance, giving you more time to react."
