- plong Friesland (9 January 2025) –* A tragic incident occurred this evening on the A58 motorway near Kapelle, resulting in a fatality. The highway is currently closed in the direction of Bergen op Zoom following a collision involving a delivery van and a truck.
The accident happened around 6:15 PM when the delivery van rear-ended the truck near interchange Vierwegen. Emergency services, including multiple fire rescue teams and a trauma helicopter, were swiftly deployed to the scene. Regrettably, upon arrival, it was confirmed that the victim could not be resuscitated.
Authorities have initiated an investigation into the cause of the crash. Consequently, the A58 will remain closed for the rest of the night, delaying traffic from the Kapelle exit and Schoorse Oudedijk on ramp. Motorists are advised to utilise the diversion route U15.
