The family of Yessica Antelo, the 10-year-old girl who jumped into the Limay River to save her brother and subsequently disappeared, is desperately clinging to hope as the search for her enters its third day.
Miguel Ángel Antelo, Yessica’s father, expressed his belief that his daughter is alive and that she may require immediate medical attention. He appeal to the community, particularly those living downstream, to remain vigilant and report any sightings or information that could aid in the search.
"I believe she’s alive. That’s my fatherly certainty. She might need immediate help. That’s my desperation," Miguel Ángel told LMNeuquén in an interview.
Yessica’s family has been living in Argentina for the past decade, seeking better job opportunities. Her father, a Bolivian native, is now solely focused on finding his daughter. The family has recently settled in Balsa Las Perlas, where Yessica disappeared earlier this week while out with her 13-year-old brother.
The Search
An extensive rescue operation is currently underway on the Limay River, with various security forces combing the water and the riverbank. Yessica’s family is grateful for the ongoing efforts but has also circulated flyers on social media, urging the community to assist in the search.
Yessica, an energetic and caring individual, is the youngest of six siblings, with the eldest being 26 years old. She was due to start fifth grade this year at School 195.
Since her disappearance, Yessica’s family has been tirelessly searching for her, accompanied by a team of psychologists to aid them through this challenging ordeal. The frantic search began around 7:35 PM on Tuesday, as the family received the distressing news that Yessica was missing.
