In a significant shift towards sustainable mobility, the Korreweg is set to undergo a profound transformation. The road will be widened and repurposed as a dedicated cycling route, with a new speed limit to accommodate and prioritize cyclists.
The project’s mastermind, Boerema, explained, "The Korreweg is poised to become a broad avenue designed with cyclists in mind. Autos will still be welcome, but they will need to adjust their speed to align with those of cyclists and provide ample space."
Key to this vision is a reduction in the maximum speed limit from 50 km/h to 30 km/h, aiming to foster a safer, more harmonious environment for all users. Public transportation buses will continue to operate along the route, ensuring uninterrupted service for commuters.
