Former US President, Donald Trump, Nominates Joe Popolo as New Ambassador to the Netherlands

Former U.S. President Donald Trump has appointed Joe Popolo as the new ambassador to the Netherlands, succeeding Shefali Razdan Duggal, who has held the position since 2022.

About Joe Popolo

Joe Popolo, a 57-year-old businessman from Texas, brings extensive private sector experience to the role. He serves as the CEO of a private investment firm he established and holds board positions in several companies. Popolo’s appointment follows a trend of wealthy donors securing ambassadorial posts, having contributed significantly to Trump’s past campaigns, including a substantial donation in 2022.

In a post on Truth Social, Trump praised Popolo, "He is a successful businessman and philanthropist with vast experience in diverse sectors," the former president wrote.

Inauguration and the Transition of Power

With Popolo’s appointment, the diplomatic transition begins as Trump prepares for his second term as U.S. President, slated to commence on January 20 in Washington, D.C.
