Trump and Iran Offer Conflicting Reports on Doha Talks

The U.S. president and Iranian officials have issued conflicting statements regarding scheduled diplomatic meetings in Doha, Qatar. While the U.S. president stated a meeting with Iran would take place in Doha today, Tehran has said there are no plans for talks in the coming days.

Despite the conflicting reports from Tehran, U.S. officials have stated that nuclear talks and technical negotiations with Tehran are slated to continue this week in Qatar.

Analyst Warns of Negotiating Difficulties

Fox News Chief Political Analyst Brit Hume said Monday that Tehran is taking risks with President Donald Trump, noting that conflicting signals underscore the difficulty of negotiating with the country. “Iranian officials are saying there’s no meeting scheduled,” Hume said. “This goes on all the time. I don’t know how you can possibly hope to deal with these people.”

Hume also noted that while military action may not be Trump’s preferred option, Iran could face consequences if diplomacy fails.
