Incoherent Press Conference: Trump Threatens Use of Force Over Control of Canal of Panama, Status of Greenland and Middle East hostages
President-elect Donald Trump, in an hour-long chaotic press conference held on Tuesday, refused to categorically dismiss military or economic force to seize back control of the Panama Canal for the U.S. He repeated a cryptic threat regarding imminent "hell in the Middle East" unless Gaza hostages, held by the Palestinian terrorist organization Hamas, were returned before his impending inauguration. Yet, when pressured to outline specifics or actions, the then-President offered no elaborations.
A motley amalgam of grievances, accusations, and factually unsupported assertions colored this press briefing. It commenced with an illogical attack on President Joe Biden’s recent Afghani extraction, seguewayed through criticisms of drilling bans off California’s coastline to the Department of Justice probes leveled at the previous presidential administration.
With no shortage of bombast but lacking tangible follow-throughs or clear outlines on his proposals’ execution, he stated:
On the future governance of Panama:
"Panama will yield under pressure or have to contend with the inevitable backlash… Not my doing – it’ll unfold naturally as my administration rolls its sleeves and prepares to regain America’s vital commercial interests".
Regrettably for Denmark:
"’Groenlandia has incredible strategic and financial value’, claimed Trump, a stance contrary to Denmark’s vehement stand. If my advisors determine they need a part of or a whole island there, ‘make no mistake about it – America is well within her right and prepared’.".
Uncannily eerily menacing were the following remarks pertaining to the impending strife:
"If those innocents aren’t liberate in Palestine before Inauguration, that’s just how things proceed. Nothing happens until after a new chief gets sworn into The White House,” he repeated throughout the hour in an echo-effect that eerily reminded everyone a new term – and fresh conflict – had approached.
Mr Trump’s rants concluded in classic controversial fashion – disconcerted, off script, yet typically Trumpesque. Time remains the determinant now, though it hardly seems sufficient considering the high volume of divisiveness and uncertain geopolitical situations. Stay on the radar…
