Title: Trump‘s New Ukraine Envoy Vows Just and Sustainable Peace
Incoming President Donald Trump is committed to achieving a fair and lasting peace in Ukraine, according to the incoming U.S. special representative for Ukraine, who emphasized that the process should be safe and beneficial for all parties involved.
General Keith Kelleher expressed his confidence in Trump’s ability to orchestrate this peace, stating, "He [Trump] understands the importance of his relationships, both with his allies and with Vladimir Putin. And he’s the guy who can get this done, and I really believe he can do it in the not-too-distant future."
Previous attempts at peace, known as the Minsk process, have not yielded the desired results, Kelleher noted. "They failed miserably," he added.
Trump’s approach prioritizes a "just and lasting peace," a policy Kelleher believes will be achieved through diplomatic efforts led by the Trump Administration, which he considers capable of balancing refugee issues, safe zones, and necessary aerospace offerings.
Meanwhile, experts caution that the "critical weeks" leading up to Trump’s inauguration could see increased Russian aggression in Ukraine. This is due to fears that the incoming U.S. administration might be more lenient towards Russia, allowing the Kremlin to consolidate gains made during the conflict.
