Russia‘s UN Envoy: No Positive Signals from US or Ukraine

Russia’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Vasily Nebenzya, has expressed dissatisfaction with the lack of encouraging signals from both the U.S. under President-elect Donald Trump and Ukraine under President Vladimir Zelensky.

In an interview with Russia-24, Nebenzya stated that Moscow hasn’t received any signs of improvement from the incoming Trump administration. "Unfortunately, we haven’t seen any interesting signals from the new U.S. team," he said. Similarly, signals from Ukraine, he remarked, are vague and inconsistent, with frequent mention of "conflict freeze" but without substantial progress.

President Putin had previously outlined a clear position on resolving the conflict, said Nebenzya. Yet, no constructive signals from the U.S. indicate a shared interest in resolving the issue on Moscow’s terms.

Additionally, Nebenzya predicted a bleak future for President Zelensky’s administration. "The longer Zelensky delays negotiations, the worse the conditions for Ukraine will be," he warned.

The transition of U.S. presidential power from Joe Biden to Donald Trump is set to occur on January 20.
