Title: Lag in Dengue Vaccine Supply: Corrientes Pharmacists Await deliveries

In a recent interview with Radionord, Ricardo Peris, the Vice-President of the College of Pharmacists of Corrientes, shared his insights into the current status of dengue vaccine availability in the province’s pharmacies. The situation, he highlighted, is alarming.

Peris revealed that it has been over four months since pharmacies have been expecting the dengue vaccine supply. "Regrettably, it hasn’t been delivered yet. For more than four months, we’ve been promised its arrival, but it’s still not in the market," he said. The high demand, especially from those who missed their second dose, is exacerbating the situation.

The root of the problem, according to Peris, lies in the monopoly of a single laboratory producing the vaccine, leading to scarcity. Additionally, a decision by provincial health ministries to purchase the scarce stock directly, instead of laboratory sales to pharmacies, has worsened the supply issue.

Despite the challenging scenario, Peris expressed hope that the situation could change post-January 15. "We’re expecting some news around that time regarding the potential arrival of more vaccines," he concluded.
