Ajax-Maccabi Riot: Two Arrested as AmsterdamFIGS Protests Turn Violent
Two individuals have been arrested on suspicion of public violence and will soon be presented to the magistrate. The incidents followed a chaotic footballeditionens> in Amsterdam, with supporters of Maccabi Tel Aviv clashing with pro-Palestinian locals.
As the dust settled after the Ajax vs. Maccabi Tel Aviv match, violence erupted on Plein ’40-’45 a few days later, sparked by a social media callout. A tram was set ablaze, and the police had to intervene to restore order.
Earlier, in December, authorities had already arrested seven Amsterdam youth aged 14 to 21 for possession of heavy fireworks.
