UAE Launches Humanitarian Mission to Evacuate Critically Ill Palestinians from Gaza
In its 23rd such initiative, the United Arab Emirates (UAE) today completed a humanitarian operation in collaboration with the World Health Organization (WHO). The mission involved evacuating 55 critically ill patients, including children and cancer patients in need of intensive care, from Gaza. The patients were accompanied by 72 family members, departing from Israel‘s Ramon Airport and crossing via the Karam Abu Salem border.
This evacuation is part of a broader UAE humanitarian mission, launched by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the UAE’s President, in October 2023. The mission aims to provide treatment for 1,000 children and 1,000 cancer patients from Gaza in UAE hospitals. To date, this initiative has benefited 2,254 patients and accompaniments.
The UAE’s humanitarian efforts reflect its commitment to saving lives and supporting the Palestinian people in Gaza during their time of crisis. The UAE has facilitated various communication channels and provided extensive relief and medical aid to the residents of Gaza.
UAE medical teams have been instrumental in providing advanced healthcare to Palestinian patients. Since its inauguration on December 2, 2023, the UAE-made field hospital in southern Gaza has treated over 50,489 cases. Furthermore, the UAE’s floating hospital off the coast of Egypt’s Al-Arish city has assisted more than 8,597 patients since February 2024.
Since the onset of the crisis, the UAE has responded swiftly with wide-ranging humanitarian aid to the Palestinian brothers, supplying nearly 50,000 tons of food, medical, and relief supplies.
