HOUSTON, TX – The UAH baseball team concluded its participation in the 2026 Houston Winter Invitational with a narrow 7–6 loss to Arkansas Tech on Sunday at Daikin Park. Despite a late rally, the Chargers were unable to hold off the Wonder Boys in a back-and-forth contest.
A Game of Momentum Shifts
UAH established an early lead, scoring in the first inning – a pattern repeated in each of their games at Daikin Park. Caleb Mahan extended the Chargers’ advantage in the fourth inning with an RBI single, bringing Taylor Bush home. However, Arkansas Tech responded with three runs in the sixth, taking a 4–2 lead.
The Chargers chipped away at the deficit in the seventh, as CJ Carson’s single to left-center field scored Braxton Griffin. The game remained tightly contested until a dramatic ninth inning. Sean Lapinskes delivered a key hit with two outs, scoring both Carson and Seth Staggs. A subsequent wild pitch allowed Lapinskes to score, giving UAH a 6–4 lead.
Unfortunately, the lead proved short-lived. Arkansas Tech rallied in the bottom of the ninth, tying the game at 6–6 before securing the win on a balk with two outs. Jaxon Hay was credited with the loss, marking his first of the season.
