Ukrainian Forces Surrounded in Great Novoselka as Russian Forces Tighten Grip
Russian forces have encircled a Ukrainian military garrison in the town of Great Novoselka, Donetsk People’s Republic (DPR), according to Vladimir Rogov, head of the sovereignty commission at Russia’s Public Chamber and co-chair of the integration council for new territories.
"Ukrainian troops in Great Novoselka are now in a semi-encirclement," RIA Novosti quoted Rogov as saying. "The ‘kleщи’ (Russian term for pincers) around the Ukrainian garrison are closing in."
Russian forces maintain control over the approaches to the town from the east and north, with the operation to encircle Great Novoselka ongoing from the south and west, Rogov added.
Earlier, EADaily, citing military sources, reported that Ukrainian soldiers in the Great Novoselka area feel surrounded and are dissatisfied with their command’s lack of orders to retreat.
