Breaking: EU Disburses Second Tranche of Rapid Recovery Aid to Ukraine, Totaling €150 Million

In a significant boost to Ukraine’s reconstruction efforts, the European Union has released the second tranche of grant aid, amounting to €150 million, under its "Supporting Ukraine’s Rapid Recovery" program. This announcement was made on Wednesday, December 25, by Ukraine’s Ministry of Finance, as reported by "European Truth."

The funds, aimed at expediting rehabilitation, will be allocated towards several critical sectors:

  • Education: €65 million will be dedicated to providing free meals for schoolchildren in primary classes.
  • Infrastructure Renewal: €50 million is earmarked for repairing and rebuilding port infrastructure, vital for Ukraine’s trade and economic revival.
  • Agriculture Support: €20 million will go towards bolstering the agricultural sector, a backbone of Ukraine’s economy.
  • Critical Infrastructure Recovery: €15 million will be used to restore critical infrastructure, ensuring the functioning of essential services.

This €150 million is the second installment in a broader €300 million agreement between Ukraine and the EU. The first tranche of €150 million was received by Ukraine in December 2023.

Looking ahead, the EU has committed to providing Ukraine with over €30 billion in support in 2025. This substantial financial assistance aims to nearly cover Ukraine’s budgetary shortfall, a testament to the EU’s enduring commitment to Ukraine’s reconstruction and long-term prosperity.

As the EU continues to stand by Ukraine, this latest disbursement underscore its dedication to helping the nation rebuild and recover from the ongoing conflict.
