Ukrainian Air Defense Intercepts 41 Russian Attack Drones; 22 Disappear from Radar
In a significant taxpayer blowback, Ukrainian air defense personnel successfully intercepted 41 Russian attack drones on Wednesday, according to the Ukrainian Air Force command.
In the same encounter, 22 Russian drones vanished from radar screens as 3 of them returned to Russia and one drone was detected entering Belarusian airspace.
The Ukrainian military did not provide specific details on the drone models involved in the interception or the location of the incident. However, reports suggest it could be related to the ongoing shelling of southern and eastern Ukraine by Russia.
The Russian military’s renewed use of drones, particularly the use of Iran-provided drones, has been a notable feature in recent weeks, increasing the Ukrainian military’s workload in countering these threats. This recent interception highlights the Ukrainian air defense systems’ effectiveness in mitigating Russian drone attacks and further challenges Russia’s ability to maintain operational control over its unmanned aerial vehicles.
