Ukraine‘s 2025 Production Plans: Focus on Defense, Drones, and Dollars
Ukraine’s Prime Minister, Denys Shmyhal, has revealed an ambitious production plan for 2025, with a significant focus on defense and security, according to a publication by the Ukrainian premier following the government’s first meeting of the year.
A Trillion Dollar Defense Budget
The government has allocated a whopping 2 trillion 230 billion Ukrainian Hryvnias (UAH) for defense and security in 2025. This funding, drawn from the state budget, includes UAH 739 billion for military hardware alone.
To support this massive investment, Ukrainian defense industry enterprises aim to increase their production capacity to a staggering $30 billion. Long-term contracts, part of the "Weapon of Victory" project, will be signed with producers, spanning 3 to 5 years.
Drones and Missiles: The Priority
Shmyhal emphasized the importance of range and missile programs. The Ukrainian president has set a target to manufacture at least 30,000 long-range drones this year. Additionally, local factories plan to produce around 3,000 winged and missile drones.
The "Danish Model": Exporting Arms
Ukraine also plans to foster the "Danish model," where international partners purchase weapons from Ukrainian defense manufacturers to support its army. The country aims to attract over $1 billion through this initiative in 2025.
Strengthening Firepower: The Tech Council Meeting
President Volodymyr Zelensky recently chaired the second "Technological Council" meeting on New Year’s Eve. The event brought together state institutions, military representatives, and local producers to discuss bolstering mobile fire teams with modern domestic weaponry.
