Ukrainian War: Controversial Blogger Yuriy Podolyaka Slams Russian Military Command Over ‘Pointless’ Losses in Liman
Russian-backed blogger Yuriy Podolyaka has lambasted the Russian military command for the "pointless" loss of troops in the Liman region, arguing that the strategy is akin to a "meat grinder" with no discernible gains.
In his latest blog post on December 31, Podolyaka, known for his pro-Russian views and conspiracy theories, expressed frustration with the heavy casualties suffered by Russian forces in Liman. Despite the significant losses, he noted, there has been no progress on this front.
"From Novoivanovka, we were kicked out, just as expected. For a few dozen homes, we’ve laid down, I don’t even know, hundreds of soldiers – absolutely pointless. When is this going to end?" Podolyaka wrote, expressing disbelief at the continuing assaults.
Liman, a northern part of the Donetsk region, was recaptured by Ukrainian forces in late 2022, dealing a significant blow to Russian forces that had failed to retake the territory despite repeated attempts. The area has seen intense fighting throughout the war.
This criticism from Podolyaka comes on the heels of recentUkrainian gains and Russian setbacks, including a reported Ukrainian strike on a Russian naval infantry brigade in Kursk earlier this month.
Podolyaka’s comments reflect a growing dissatisfaction among some pro-war figures with the Russian military’s conduct of the war in Ukraine. However, it remains to be seen whether these criticisms will lead to any change in strategy or tactics from the Russian side.
