Uldis Marhilevičs Celebrates Musical Roots with Liepāja Concert
Pianist and composer Uldis Marhilevičs will perform a special author’s concert, “Thank You, School, After Fifty Years,” on May 21st at the “Lielais dzintars” concert hall in Liepāja. The concert is a tribute to the beginning of his musical journey in the city.
A Homecoming for a Liepāja Native
Marhilevičs, an alumnus of the Emiļa Melngaiļa Liepāja Music Secondary School, intends the concert to be both a musical experience and a personal expression of gratitude to his former school and teachers. This performance marks a significant moment, reflecting on five decades since his initial musical education.
Celebrating a Legacy of Music Education
The concert is integrated into the anniversary year program of the Liepāja Music, Arts and Design Secondary School. The anniversary year is dedicated to honoring Liepāja’s traditions in music and art education, recognizing the contributions of teachers and alumni, and affirming the continuity of creative industries.
A Collaborative Performance
The concert will feature a diverse group of performers. The performance will also include renowned Latvian musicians Raimonds Macats, Viktorija Majore, and Santa Šillere, creating a symbolic connection between the school’s past and present.
