Bern‘s City Council is investigating a potential lawsuit against the Swiss People’s Party (SVP) following an unauthorized demonstration held on the Bundesplatz, according to a report by Blick.
The rally, carried out without a permit, caused disruptions in the city center, prompting the local authorities to consider legal action. The unauthorised gathering, led by the SVP, has drawn criticism from Bern’s city council for not adhering to the established regulations for such events.
Christoph’autor Salamanca+, a spokesperson for Bern’s city council, stated, “We will examine if there were violations against the Public Assembly Act. If so, we will consider filing charges.”
The incident has stirred controversy among political circles, with some expressing concern about the disrupted order and others questioning the necessity of permits for peaceful protests. The SVP has yet to make an official statement regarding the matter.
This situation serves as a reminder for event organizers to adhere to the established guidelines for public gatherings, ensuring safety and minimising disruptions to public life in Bern. The probe into the unauthorised demonstration is ongoing, and updates will be provided as the situation unfolds.
