The UNLV track & field team is set to compete this weekend, traveling to Los Angeles for two days of competition at UCLA on Friday, March 27 and Saturday, March 28.
Competition Schedule
UCLA has structured the weekend into two separate meets: the Bob Larsen Distance Carnival on Friday and the Jim Bush Legends Meet on Saturday. Friday’s events initiate at 4:15 pm, although Saturday’s competition is scheduled to start shortly after 11:30 am.
The Bob Larsen Distance Carnival will feature two field events and four track events. Amaya Mitchell-Howard and Lauryn Williams will begin competition in the hammer throw at 4:15 pm. Distance runners will then compete in the 1500m (ELITE) at 6 pm, followed by the 5000m at 7:30 pm.
Saturday’s Jim Bush Legends Meet will begin with field events—including the women’s high jump, discus, shot put, long jump and triple jump—starting before 3 pm. The schedule includes the 4x100m relay at 1:05 pm and the 4x400m relay at 4:45 pm. Track events scheduled for Saturday include the 100m hurdles (1:35 pm), 400m (2 pm), 100m (2:25 pm), 800m (2:50 pm), 400m hurdles (3:25 pm) and 200m (3:50 pm). Student-athletes who did not compete in the 1500m ELITE on Friday will compete in a main event session starting at 4:15 pm.
Several UNLV athletes are currently leading the Mountain West in their respective events. Victoria Perrow, Kaitlyn Webbe, Taryn Bailey and Roxene Simpson currently lead the conference in the 200m, 400m, 800m and discus throw, respectively.
