Pasuruan Urges Public to Boost Cleanliness Awareness Amid Dengue Fever Threat

The rainy season brings more than just wet roads and lush greenery; it also increases the risk of dengue fever, a mosquito-borne disease that has been on the rise in Pasuruan Regency. In response, the IV Commission of Pasuruan’s Regional House of Representatives (DPRD) has called on the public to step up their efforts in maintaining cleanliness to prevent the spread of the disease.

Andri Wahyudi, the head of the IV Commission, emphasized the crucial role of cleanliness in preventing dengue fever outbreaks. "Stagnant water around homes serves as a breeding ground for Aedes aegypti mosquitoes, which are responsible for transmitting dengue fever," he said.

Wahyudi reminded residents to regularly clean their surroundings, including drains and potential mosquito breeding sites. He also stressed the importance of proper waste disposal, urging people not to litter indiscriminately.

In addition to individual efforts, Wahyudi encouraged collective action through regular community service activities. "Such initiatives not only help clean up the environment more effectively but also raise awareness about the importance of maintaining cleanliness," he said.

Wahyudi also called on the public to play an active role in keeping their surroundings clean, stating that a clean environment can help prevent various diseases, including dengue fever.

While acknowledging the role of the Health Department (Dinkes) in monitoring and controlling the disease, Wahyudi highlighted the need for public participation. "Given that fogging is no longer permitted, it’s crucial for Dinkes to conduct early monitoring and for the public to play their part in maintaining cleanliness," he concluded.

As the rainy season continues, let’s all do our part in keeping our environment clean and safe from dengue fever and other diseases. Together, we can create a healthier Pasuruan.
