U.S. to Announce New Military Aid Package for Ukraine; Details on Timing and Weapons Unclear
The U.S. has been increasingly announcing new military aid packages for Ukraine, with the latest coming on December 30, when President Joe Biden directed approximately $2.5 billion in security assistance. This includes about $1.24 billion from the Presidential Drawdown Authority, enabling quick deliveries of ammunition for HIMARS, anti-tank weapons, and other critical supplies. Additionally, $1.22 billion is allocated via the Ukraine Security Assistance Initiative (USAI), which facilitates purchases from U.S. industry.
While the exact date for the announcement of the next aid package remains unconfirmed, the current administration is eager to utilize all available resources before President-elect Donald Trump’s inauguration on January 20.
