Ukraine‘s Currency Market Sees Dollar and Euro Decline on January 2

In a positive turn for Ukrainian currency holders, the average selling rate of the dollar has dropped by 5 kopiykas, settling at 42.45 UAH, while the euro has also decreased by the same amount, reaching 44.35 UAH, as of the morning of January 2. Exchange offices are buying dollars at an average of 41.95 UAH and euros at 43.65 UAH.

The interbank market has seen the dollar trading at 41.94-42.00 UAH, marking a 3 kopiyka increase compared to the previous day’s close.

National Bank of Ukraine (NBU) Cuts Dollar Rate

The NBU has announced a reduction in the official dollar rate, with the currency depreciating for the second consecutive day following its historic peak. The official rate for January 2, 2024, has been set at 41.9725 UAH per USD, a decrease of 0.0570 UAH. The official euro rate has been set at 43.6052 UAH per EUR, down by 0.0803 UAH.

January Forecast: Dollar Rate Fluctuations Expected

Taras Leсовой, Head of Cash Management at GLOBUS BANK, predicts that the official dollar rate may increase by 0.5-1% throughout January. However, he also notes that the rate could fluctuate within the 42-42.30 UAH range.
