Hot temperatures to continue as 2025 begins with rain
According to the latest forecasting models, Buenos Aires and the surrounding areas (AMBA) will experience high temperatures persisting through the next few days, with the new year, 2025, set to begin with rain.
New Year’s Day Weather: Expect Rain and Storms
The Servicio Meteorológico Nacional (SMN) has issued a weather alert for Wednesday, January 1, 2025, predicting scattered showers and thunderstorms throughout the day, along with minimum temperatures of 22°C and maximum temperatures of 31°C. Meteored, a specialized weather service, confirms this forecast, detailing the following:
- Wednesday, January 1, 2025: 30% chance of "weak rain" between 3 AM and 5 AM, followed by isolated thunderstorms from 4 PM to 7 PM.
When Will the Rain Arrive in the AMBA?
The SMN expects rainfall to start in the early hours of New Year’s Day, with scattered showers in the morning and isolated thunderstorms in the afternoon and evening.
Buenos Aires’ Weather Outlook for the New Year
Looking ahead, the SMN anticipates fair weather conditions returning to the AMBA from Thursday, January 2, with partly cloudy skies in the morning and evening, and mostly cloudy skies in the afternoon. Temperatures are expected to range between 18°C and 32°C.
For Friday, January 3, the SMN predicts an overcast day with temperatures ranging from 17°C to 29°C.
A pleasant start to the weekend is forecast, with partly cloudy skies on Saturday, January 4, and temperatures between 17°C and 28°C. Sunday, January 5, will have mostly cloudy skies with temperatures ranging from 17°C to 25°C.
