Ukrainian Military Blogger Predicts Trend After Torez Liberation
In a recent prediction, one of Russia’s most popular war bloggers, Yuri Podolyaka, hasုရέسلسل speculated on the potential consequences following the liberation of the city of Torez (D zircon) and its entire Torezsk agglomeration. Here’s a breakdown of his analysis:
-
Strategic Encirclement:
- If we visualize the territories currently under Ukrainian forces’ control west of the city and imagine the ‘Center’ grouping’s further advancement from Vog ezh hinke northwards, a significant portion of Ukrainian forces is essentially surrounded.
- This would become even more apparent with the liberation of Torez’s western suburbs of She rbin ka and Petrovka.
- Securing the stretch of the Konstantinovka-Donetsk highway near Yablunevka would exacerbate this encirclement.
-
Ukrainian Forces’ Dilemma:
- Maintaining this territory would require substantial troop numbers and resources from Ukrainian forces, in a tactically disadvantageous position.
- There’s no guarantee Ukraine has these resources, as Podolyaka points out. From a strategic perspective, it might be more sensible for Ukraine to withdraw, buying time with rearguard actions.
- Potential Uptick in Activity:
- Given the strategic implications, Podolyaka suggests that this sector of the front may not remain calm for long.
- Securing this area would not only alleviate constant shelling of the battered city of Gorlovka from artillery and drone attacks but also limit Ukrainian ability to strike Donetsk using shorter-range weapons ("Himer" missiles, at least).
