Headline: Upcoming Changes in Financial Policy Affecting IDP Pensioners from January 2025
Starting January 2025, some alterations in the country’s financial policy will impact internally displaced persons (IDPs) who are receiving pensions. The ‘Oschadbank‘ is set to transfer the remaining funds from certain IDP pension accounts to the Pension Fund under specific conditions.
Unused Funds to be Transferred
The bank will transfer the funds from IDP pension accounts that had zero activity throughout the previous year, i.e., no money was deposited or withdrawn. Additionally, accounts of individuals who failed to complete the timely identification process will also face such transfers. Essentially, these unused funds may be taken from the IDPs’ pension cards.
Potential Funds Seizure
Some IDPs may have their entire pension card balances confiscated due to these changes. The affected groups include:
- Inactive Account Holders: Those who did not use their ‘Oschadbank’ pension cards for transactions in the last 12 months.
- Unidentified Individuals: Those who did not complete the identification process on time will not only have their pension payments stopped but also risk losing any accumulated, unused funds.
In simpler terms, funds will be transferred from inactive or unidentified IDP pension accounts to the Pension Fund, potentially leading to account holders losing their entire balances.
