The WBC belt at super-lightweight became vacant after champion Sandy Ryan was designated ‘champion in recess’, positioning unbeaten French fighter Pili as the mandatory challenger for the IBF title and top-ranked contender for the WBC strap.
Demand for the event proved immediate. According to event organizers, all 80-plus thousand tickets for the Croke Park finale sold out within minutes following a massive pre-sale surge. Taylor described the public response as overwhelming, noting that a recent bus tour around the country made her feel “like a pop star.”

Despite the celebratory atmosphere surrounding her homecoming, Taylor emphasized that she is guarding against complacency. According to the champion, Pili represents a legitimate threat who will look to disrupt the evening.
“I have a real threat in front of me, someone who’s going to try and ruin the night for me. I’m prepared for that,” Taylor said, adding that she is targeting a career-best performance to secure her final victory.
