In a series of emergency rescue operations, Bulgarian mountain rescue teams saved two lives and assisted several others in the past day, as reported by the Mountain Rescue Service (MRS) of the Bulgarian Red Cross (BRC).
A hiker in Stara Planina, above the village of Shipka, experienced a heart attack. Six rescuers from the Kazanlak detachment rushed to his aid, transporting him to a medical team from the Emergency Service. His current condition remains unknown, according to the MRS.
Meanwhile, a woman sadly lost her life at the "Bez Gond" hut in Pirin National Park. Her body was transported by mountain rescuers to the "Gotse Delchev" hut and handed over to the respective services.
In a separate incident, a team of mountain rescuers from Sofia responded to a distress call from two individuals stranded at the "Murgash" shelter. The duo had ventured out on all-terrain vehicles (ATVs) without appropriate winter gear, eventually requiring assistance from the mountain rescue team, who safely escorted them to a secure location.
Mountain rescue services remind all outdoor enthusiasts to ensure they are well-equipped and informed about the terrain and weather conditions before embarking on their adventures, particularly during the winter months.
