The woman, suspected to be homeless, entered the café and threatened staff members. In an attempt to safeguard themselves, the employees tried to lock her inside, but unfortunately, a supervisor remained trapped within the establishment. The perpetrator continued to menace the workers, brandishing her weapon, as they desperately sought help.
"One of the Starbucks employees shouted for someone to call the authorities, stating that ‘one of the street people’ had entered and was threatening a supervisor," recounted an eyewitness.
Mexico City police arrived to find the woman still behaving violently. They instructed a worker recording the scene to leave while they secured the area. Amid cries and tears, the suspect was eventually escorted out of the establishment by security personnel.
The woman, reportedly in a vulnerable condition, was found to have multiple injuries upon medical examination. She was presented to a civil judge, and her legal status is expected to be determined in the coming hours.
Fortunately, no injuries were reported among the Starbucks employees during the attempted stabbing. The café, which did not have any customers at the time of the attack, continues to operate, although it’s unclear if it remained open following the incident.
