A 42-year-old senior IT executive was shot dead by his neighbor in Faridabad’s Sector 21C on Friday night following a prolonged dispute over vehicle parking and dog waste, police said.
Paramjit Dhankhar killed after repeated threats over parking
Paramjit Dhankhar, who previously led Asia operations for Tech Mahindra and currently works for a Vietnam-based company while residing in Singapore, died instantly after sustaining nine bullet wounds, police said. His son Shourya escaped.
The accused, Monu Sharma, allegedly fired rapidly at Dhankhar and his son in the parking area. Police arrested Sharma along with his family members after the incident. A case was registered against Sharma — also identified as Mohan — his wife Divya, son Mayank, daughter Nain, and brother Hetram, based on a complaint filed by Shourya.
Hours of threats preceded the shooting
According to police, Sharma had threatened Dhankhar’s family multiple times over parking and a dog relieving itself in the parking area. Hours before the killing, Sharma allegedly told Dhankhar, “Today night your story will end.”
Earlier, when Dhankhar’s son approached Sharma to discuss damage to their gate and request repairs, Sharma allegedly replied, “I have nothing to talk to puppies, tell your father.” After returning from Singapore, Dhankhar went to the police station to file a case over Sharma’s rude behavior toward his son. Police then summoned Sharma, who allegedly threatened in front of officers that he would kill Dhankhar that very night. Police sent both parties away without taking action.
On Friday night, Sharma allegedly called Dhankhar to the parking area under the pretext of talking. There, Sharma again threatened him, saying, “Have you seen a widow? You don’t have great faith in God, then I can send you to God.” The shooting followed immediately after.
Friends say police inaction may have enabled the murder
Dhankhar’s friends told police that if Sharma had been taken into custody when he issued the threat at the police station, the murder could have been avoided.
