Reaching a final height of 1,000 meters presents unprecedented hurdles in structural engineering, according to engineering firm Thornton Tomasetti. The firm describes the project as an extraordinary achievement because it will become the first human-made structure to hit the one-kilometer mark.
“First, we have to determine the rational design wind loads at extreme heights,” Thornton Tomasetti engineers stated regarding the structural demands. “Second, we must control building movement, both lateral and vertical, over time. Third, the structural system solution we produce must be efficient and effective in advancing the ambitious architectural design.”

Moving further up the structure, blueprints detail plans for a 200-room luxury hotel. Upper tiers will host serviced apartments, a peak-floor lobby, and select residential units, pushing the limits of mixed-use supertall design.
