Zeiss Lenses to Debut at Cinemotion Labs 2026

by Chief Editor

Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia have emerged as the three most active cinematic production markets in Latin America, according to Alejandro Alcocer, sales director at Zeiss Group. This growth is driven by a rise in local storytelling and government production incentives, which Alcocer told TVyVideo+Radio have strengthened regional identity and increased the consumption of local content globally.

Zeiss Expands Optical Solutions for Latin American Filmmakers

To meet the demand for high-quality cinematography in these growing markets, Zeiss has introduced three new lens families: Aatma, Panoptes (designed for 65mm format), and Horizon anamorphic Full Frame.

Alcocer cited the presence of traditional rental houses, such as Congo Films, and ongoing relationships with the ADFC and the SIL industry event as primary drivers for the brand’s current regional strategy.

The Role of Cinemotion Labs in Technical Training

Zeiss joined the first edition of Cinemotion Labs, held August 11 and 12 at Telemedellín’s Studio 2 in Medellín. The event serves as a practical hub for filmmakers to test the Aatma and Otus ML lines.

The Role of Cinemotion Labs in Technical Training

According to Alcocer, the initiative focuses on how optical choices influence visual narrative and current workflows. A dedicated workshop allows users to compare the Nano Prime, Aatma, and Otus ML families to determine how each responds to specific creative needs, ranging from virtual production to mirrorless camera integration.

Regional Production Trends and Global Challenges

While Mexico, Brazil, and Colombia lead the region, Alcocer noted that the Latin American industry still faces the same systemic challenges affecting the global cinema sector. Despite this, the trend toward “local stories for global audiences” remains the primary engine for growth.
