Ukraine Rejects Freezing Conflict with Russia, Demands Security Assurances
Ukraine has categorically refused to freeze its conflict with Russia, with President Volodymyr Zelensky emphasizing the need for security guarantees to ensure long-term peace. Speaking recently, Zelensky underscored that a mere ceasefire would not suffice without clear plans for the future.
"When we talk about a ceasefire, people need to know what comes next, how it will all end," Zelensky stressed. "Otherwise, we’re just creating a frozen conflict. Ukraine requires strong positions and security guarantees."
Zelensky expressed his desire for a stable peace but also acknowledged Russia’s inconsistent stance, stating that Russia demonstrates no genuine intention to achieve a lasting truce. This stance echoes the Ukrainian government’s long-standing position that any peace agreement must be based on ensure tangible progress and respect for Ukraine’s territorial integrity.
