Five Injured in Train-Car Collision in Partizánske District

A serious accident occurred on Friday afternoon in the Partizánske district when a train collided with a passenger motor vehicle. The incident took place at a railway crossing without barriers located between the villages of Chynorany and Bošany.

Casualties and Emergency Response

Five people traveling in the vehicle sustained injuries, while no injuries were reported among those on the train. According to Petra Klimešová, spokesperson for the Operational Center of the Emergency Medical Service of the SR, all patients remained conscious.

Medical personnel utilized two ambulances and a rescue helicopter to treat and transport the injured:

  • A 22-year-old woman with a femur fracture was transported to a hospital in Nitra.
  • A 38-year-old man diagnosed with polytrauma was taken to a hospital in Topoľčany.
  • Two children with head and chest injuries were also transported to the hospital in Topoľčany.

Traffic Disruptions and Police Action

The collision has caused significant logistical disruptions, with police confirming that traffic in the affected section is currently impassable. Authorities are requesting that drivers respect police instructions and utilize alternative routes to bypass the area.

Ingrid Krajčíková, the spokesperson for the Trenčín regional police, stated that all rescue services are operating at the scene and that police are currently carrying out initial procedural acts to clarify the circumstances of the crash.

Investigation and Next Steps

The exact cause, circumstances, and degree of fault regarding the collision are now the subject of a further investigation by the District Traffic Inspectorate in Partizánske.

Depending on the results of the inspectorate’s findings, the investigation may lead to a formal determination of liability for the accident.
