In a prior instance when Patra represented Kerry Adrianto in an oil governance corruption case, Febrie and Patra agreed not to meet personally to ensure professional boundaries. Febrie noted that he assigned capable investigators and prosecutors to that matter, some of whom are now prosecuting him in the current proceedings.

Prosecutors have alleged that Febrie accepted 5 million dolar Amerika Serikat, equivalent to approximately Rp 50 miliar, from businessman Tan Kian, which was purportedly received through Ferry Yanto Hongkiriwang, also known as Ferry Boboho, in connection with the handling of a corruption case involving PT Asuransi Jiwasraya. Prosecutors also accused Febrie of receiving shares valued from Michael Njoman, Director and owner of PT Cahaya Baja Sukses, through Ferry using PT Tompotika Mulia Abadi, alongside another receipt from Tria Bellitonito Aturbumi, President Director of PT Oktasan Baruna Persada.
