Sofia Region Unaffected by Snowfall: All Roads Open and Passable

Rumen Sechanski, director of Sofia Regional Road Management, has confirmed that all roads in the Sofia region remain open and passable despite recent snowfall. "There are no closed sections," he told BNT.

Sechanski reassured the public that there’s no need to close any roads, given that his department maintains about 1,600 kilometers of roads across the region. He emphasized that all roads in the Sofia region are accessible, although they are snow-covered. In case of severe conditions, Sechanski said they may temporarily halt heavy vehicle traffic.

He advised drivers to exercise increased caution while driving. Snow can be found along the Struma Motorway (A3) and Hemus Motorway (A1). Motorways are being treated with salt and calcium chloride, but Sechanski warned that surfaces might still be slippery.

In light of the weather conditions, drivers are urged to take necessary precautions and allow extra time for journeys. Regular updates on road conditions can be found on the Sofia Regional Road Management’s official website and social media platforms.
