At Least 13 Dead After Bus Plunges Off Cliff in Southern Colombia

The Colombian Minister of Transport, Maria Constanza Garcia, has confirmed that at least 13 people have died after a bus fell off a cliff in southern Colombia. In a tweet, Garcia stated that as of now, 13 fatalities and 18 injuries, along with 1 unharmed passenger, have been reported. All the injured have been transferred to hospitals in the city of Pasto.

The bus was reportedly traveling from the city of Cali to the village of Ipiales, located near the border with Ecuador. According to El Tiempo newspaper, citing rescue services, preliminary investigations suggest that the vehicle was damaged, which caused the driver to lose control, leading to the bus falling from a great height.

This tragic incident is a stark reminder of the dangers faced by both passengers and drivers on Colombia’s often challenging roads. Our hearts go out to the victims and their families during this difficult time. Authorities continue to investigate the cause of the accident.
