Title:sep=Bali Police Arrest Russian Organizer of Alleged Massive Sex Party; Drugs Seized
In a significant bust, Bali’s Narcotics Division (BNNP) has arrested a Russian national who allegedly orchestrated a large-scale sex party involving around 50 foreign nationals in the upscale Canggu area. The revelation came to light during a raid on a villa used as the party venue on Saturday, December 21, 2024.
Bali’s Chief of the Criminal Investigation Division (BNN), Komisaris Besar Polisi (Kompol) Made Sinar Subawa, disclosed that the attendees, primarily strangers to each other, had received special invitations and were required to pay a fee to attend. Although the exact form of the invitations remains unclear, Subawa confirmed that the event was purportedly held to celebrate Christmas.
Fifty Russians, Americans, Australians, and other nationalities were present at the private soiree, although authorities are yet to confirm if similar events occur regularly. During the raid, police and sniffer dogs discovered suspected drugs hidden between couch cushions.
"We found some objects that we suspect are narcotics between the couch cushions," Sinar Subawa confirmed. "Not on their bodies or on them."
The BNN is currently collaborating with the Immigration Office to further investigate the case. As the news unfolds, it underscores Bali’s ongoing battle against drug-related activities and illegal parties, highlighting the importance of vigilance and cooperation among local and international authorities.
This crackdown follows recent warnings against unchecked partying and drug usage in popular expat hangouts across Indonesia, with military chiefs vowing stern action against recalcitrant venues.
Bali, the ‘Island of the Gods,’ has long been a magnet for international tourists and expats, who often engage in hedonistic lifestyles. However, these revelries have also drawn unwanted attention from law enforcement, who maintain a delicate balance between maintaining public order and nurturing the island’s thriving tourist economy.
Despite these setbacks, Bali continues to attract visitors from around the world, who are drawn to its pristine beaches, vibrant culture, and famously welcoming atmosphere. As authorities strive to maintain a safe and enjoyable environment for locals and tourists alike, the future of Bali’s famed nightlife hangs in the balance.
