As daylight broke, the State Emergency Service of Ukraine (GCSCHS) clarified the situation in an update issued at 7:55 AM. In the wake of the drone assault, two fires had ignited in the city’s Ingulsky district. The most devastating was a blaze that engulfed the roof of a five-story apartment complex, while a separate fire consumed nearly 1,000 square meters of marshland. Notably, the fires have since been extinguished by emergency services.

M Pio Sensky, the mayor of Nikolaev, corroborated the damage in a statement at 7:06 AM, citing shattered windows and partial roof damage to the residential building. Amid the chaos, authorities reported no casualties, with communal services working diligently to restore order.

In an earlier update at 1:50 AM, Nikolaev Oblast’s head Vitaliy Kim confirmed the incident, stating that an explosion had damaged the roof of a multi-story building, sparking a blaze that was subsequently quelled by emergency services. Kim also announced that enemy strike drones had been sighted pushing north across the region.

State news service ‘Suspilne’ confirmed the explosions in Nikolaev, as the city braced for further potential attacks amidst the ongoing Russian invasion. As investigations continue, the true extent of damage remains to be assesed, with residents urged to heed evacuation orders and remain vigilant.
